Our History

In 2014, the International School of Kazan (ISK) welcomed its first 7 students. As one of the first international schools in Kazan, ISK was founded by Fielding Nair International with the vision of transforming children's lives through education. It was a humble beginning: just 7 students, 3 staff members, and 3 classrooms, but the school was already on its way to becoming a leader in international education in Tatarstan. We started with big dreams and a commitment to excellence that has guided us ever since.

By September 2015, ISK had expanded to two campuses. The Fedo Campus, dedicated to the Primary School, opened its doors to 126 students, offering a comprehensive primary education program. This new campus provided ample room for growth, featuring modern classrooms, a library, and outdoor play areas. With the original campus still in operation, ISK now served a total of 154 students. Parents began to recognize the school's unique approach to education, which blended academic excellence with a strong focus on student well-being.

In 2016, ISK opened the Mau Campus for its secondary school students to accommodate a growing enrollment. Designed specifically for the needs of older students, the campus welcomed 133 students and provided modern facilities including science labs, art studios, and sports fields. The Mau Campus was built with a strong emphasis on sustainability, utilizing eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient systems. This expansion allowed ISK to broaden its programs, offering a full range of subjects, extracurricular activities, and leadership development opportunities for secondary students.

From day one, the esteemed Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Nurgalievich Minnikhanov, gave the school a direct instruction: "English only!" However, English-medium instruction is not the only thing that makes the school international. We have many expatriate teachers and children from various countries, and our academic programme allows us to educate future professionals who can succeed in any country!

By 2020, ISK had grown significantly, and the Fedo campus was expanded to include a secondary school. This allowed ISK to provide continuous education from kindergarten through high school across both campuses. The Fedo campus for secondary school opened with 3 new buildings, providing more space for student learning and development. This expansion was a key step in ensuring high-quality education for an increasing number of students.

In the summer of 2021, ISK celebrated its first graduating class of 16 students. These students paved the way for those who followed, and we look at their photo with immense pride. 
Incidentally, in 2020, Mr. Rosberg initiated the Outstanding Graduate of the Year award – the 2020 Vision Award (a play on words and numbers, as we love – 2020 vision means perfect eyesight). Over the years, the award has been presented to Timofey Leonov, Kirill Bredikhin, Arina Abdrashitova, Teona Medvedeva, and in 2022, it was awarded to Asiya Suleymanova.

ISK is 10 years old! So much has been accomplished and so much more lies ahead. The history of ISK is still being written — each one of us is writing it.

The first of September became a special day for the International School of Kazan (ISK). The jubilee tenth academic year has begun! This is an important event for our large international family. 

It's hard to believe that such an ambitious project began in 2014 with just seven students. Today, ISK is among the top 10 schools in Kazan for academic performance. We employ over forty teachers from fifteen countries around the world. Our students are winners and prize-takers in republican and national olympiads. Graduates of the International School attend top universities worldwide!
